At RunNation Film Festival, we are passionate about sharing the stories that move us—tales of endurance, triumph, and the human spirit in motion. Today, we’re thrilled to share some fantastic news that embodies exactly why we do what we do.
Ian Henschke, the talented filmmaker and journalist behind The Golden Mile, has been awarded Best Sports Report at the 2025 South Australian Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (SA MEAA) Awards. This powerful film was proudly screened as part of the RunNation Film Festival program, shining a spotlight on the rich stories woven through the world of running.
The judges offered glowing praise for The Golden Mile, recognising its compelling storytelling and the depth of insight into both the sport and the remarkable individuals who pursue it. We couldn’t be prouder to have played a small part in bringing this work to audiences around Australia.
In Ian’s own words:
“Thanks for your support. Without it I would not have been able to win this!”
It’s moments like this that remind us of the impact of community and collaboration. When filmmakers, journalists, athletes, and festivals come together, extraordinary things can happen.
On behalf of everyone at RunNation, congratulations, Ian. Your work inspires all of us to keep running—toward stories that matter.
